A relatively unspoilt Victorian back street local where the off-sales has been absorbed but which might otherwise always have been just one room. Many of the fittings - bar counter, doors, windows, wall-panelling - are, if not original, pretty old. Inside gents but outside ladies!
Although single roomed, this is a relatively unspoilt Victorian back-street local. The 'Jug And Bottle Department" etched panel in the door indicates an off-sales has been absorbed into the bar. A lot of the fittings – bar counter, doors, windows, wall-panelling – are, if not original, then very old. As there is no door to the rear part of the bar it could this always been just one room since it became a pub? More research required. Interestingly, the gents toilets are inside but the ladies are 'outside' having been added at the back of the pub possibly in the 1930s or 1950s. It was in the Paul family from 1962 to 1998.
