The Vines, rebuilt in 1907 as a Cains pub, is, like its sister pub, the rather earlier Philharmonic, one of the great show pubs of the country, and is on CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. Plasterwork, on the theme of "Harvest", in the smoke-room of the pub was created by sculptor Walter Gilbert 1908. Other plasterwork and glass in the other room are the work of Henry Gustave Hiller. Refurbished in 2023 after a period of decline, cask beer reintroduced and now run by owner of Red Lion, White Hart, Monro and St. Peter's Tavern.
